Local Government (MAC)
Because there is no "city government" in Oak Park, an elected Municipal Advisory Council (MAC) exists to advise county government of community concerns.
The Municipal Advisory Council is composed of five elected members. Members are elected from the community at large.
The MAC´s role is to provide advice and recommendations to the Ventura County Board of Supervisors, the County Planning Department, and other agencies. The Supervisors generally, but not always, follow recommendations of the MAC.
The Ventura County Supervisor serving Oak Park is Linda Parks, and her Oak Park Deputy is Jan Osterhaven. Both can be reached at: (805) 373-2564 or go to the website: http://www.countyofventura.org/bos/dist2.asp
Email: Linda.Parks@ventura.org or Jan.Osterhaven@ventura.org

The five-member council covers the unincorporated area of Oak Park (Community Service Area No. 4). If an election is uncontested or a mid-term vacancy occurs, the council member is appointed by the Board of Supervisors.
The council's purpose is to review matters of public health, safety, and welfare, public works and planning relating to the area and to transmit its concerns and/or recommendations regarding those items by forwarding written comments to the Board of Supervisors, Planning Commission, Resource Management Agency or the Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO); provided, however, that the items considered by the council are determined by the County Planning Director or the 2nd District County Supervisor. The Council also reviews and provides advisory recommendations concerning the financing and operations of County Service Area No. 4.
Meetings: The time and place of the 12 regular meetings held per calendar year is established by the Council; however, meetings are usually on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the Oak Park High School Presentation Room G9, 899 N. Kanan Rd., Oak Park, CA. 91377
Term of Office: 4-year terms commencing the first Friday in December of even-numbered calendar years.
Formation: The Council was established by the Board of Supervisors in 1975.
